CLASS and MECHANISM of Action
Generic "Verapamil" is in a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Generic "Verapamil" relaxes (widens) blood vessels (veins and arteries), which makes it easier for the heart to pump and reduces its workload.
The complete mechanism of action is not fully understood. However, in layman's terms, it appears that the Generic "Verapamil" migrates into the plaque or scar tissue, blocks calcium from entering the tissue, and causes the diseased tissue to produce an enzyme, collagenase, that converts the diseased tissue into a more healthy state.
Active Ingredients: Verapamil hydrochloride
Inactive Ingredients: corn starch, hypromellose 2910, anhydrous lactose, magnesium stearate, polacrilin potassium, microcrystalline cellulose, and polyethylene glycol 400.
